Our History

• Founded in 1983
• Mark A. Smith joined the firm in 1994 and in 1997 was named Company President. Since that appointment, the company has grown by over 2500% and at its peak employed over 1600 contract workers.
• In 1998, The CPI Group's business model was redesigned to allow CPI to become the region's first and only true, single-source human resources solutions provider, a position it still maintains to this day.
• From 2005 until 2009, CPI facilitated over 90% of a $34 Million National Emergency Grant for post Hurricane Katrina Recovery.
• Among other prior awards and recognitions, more notably, in 2007, CPI received national recognition in ranking 242nd out of over 100,000 companies in the Inc. Magazine Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S.
• In the 2nd Quarter of 2009, The CPI Group introduced its new brand, Strategic Workforce Partners, launching an aggressive new initiative to enhance and further promote its unique and broad Human Resources Solutions service capabilities.
